Skinny vs Curvy?

Who's your role model?

In magazines, shop windows, TV adverts and any fashion marketing campaign, we are bombarded with images of “perfect” women. These are typically extremely thin women who make us believe that we should look like them to look good in those clothes.

Do they really look sexy?
Are they what women should look like?

I know I’m not the only one who wishes for these images to just STOP

Keira Knightley
LeAnn Rimes
I want to see real curvy beautiful women who haven’t starved themselves by eating celery for months before the photo shoot to look insanely skinny. I find some models/celebs disturbingly thin and wish that as women we could just accept that we don’t have to be all the same size. Some people are naturally skinny but no woman has naturally zero muscles or fat on her body, with ribs poking through. NO. Fashion should be about individuality and having fun.

Life is too short, let's just enjoy our shape!!

Women come in all shapes and sizes, which should be represented by the fashion media.

I hope the tide is turning and women embrace their body shape and curves, check out these celebs who are just allowing their body to do its own thing. Don’t they just look gorgeous, sexy and womanly?!?

Top 5 Christmas Gifts under £20

Top 5 Christmas Gifts for your Friends

Under £20

Well that day where we eat to our hearts content and lounge about in our pyjamas is fast approaching (no it's not just a normal Sunday). It's CHRISTMAS!

Well if you're anything like me I still have quite a few pressies to buy for my gal pals as I always just panic at what to get them, as they seem to have just well everything. Therefore I thought I'd compile a Christmas List, a Santa's (you being the Santa) Shopping List, so put that red hat and fake beard on and say "HO HO HO" as I give you inspiration on what to buy your closest girlfriends.

New Look £15.99

Onesie

Yes you guessed it, with New Look selling them nearly every minute it's the snuggly, wuggly (sorry) onesie!

It's the cutest gift for your friends who will laugh when you open it but will secretly wear it...all the time. I am loving the selection at New Look as they are super comfy and fun, also they don't break the bank.

River Island £17

Slipper Boots

Keeping with the PJ theme, as we all love getting all cosy over Winter. Nothing says, "Put your feet up you deserve it hun" like some slippers.

They are all over the high street so it's easy to pick some up. These Aztec ones from River Island look super comfy!

Accessorize £8

Purse

These are a perfect fashion gift for friends as you can buy ones which match their fashion taste, showing that you put in time and effort. Also they are normally quite nicely priced but look expensive, so everyone is a winner!

Check out the lovely collection by Accessorize.

The Perfume Shop - £19.99

Perfume

I am a firm believer that a woman can never have enough perfume, as I always like to try out different scents to match my mood or occasion. Therefore a perfect gift is a perfume, as perfumes always run out and you never know you may buy your friend their next favourite fragrance!

The Perfume Shop have quite a few bargains, try some celebrity fragrances. I love this lace themed bottle, it would just look so lovely on your dressing table.

Jewellery

Lissele Jewellery - £3.50
Now every Christmas I always get lots of jewellery but there's a reason, it is because I wear them everyday. Try to think what type of outfits your friend wears on a regular basis, as there's no point getting her a hippy looking bangle if she always wears sparkly chic clothes. Match the bangle, necklace or ring to their taste in clothes, so they will want to wear it with everything!
Also check out that price, you could buy a few or keep the change!

Red Carpet - V-neck and embellished shoulders really draws attention to the top half of her body. The fitted dress with the straight zip proportions her shape.

Red Carpet - Again the V-neck draws the eye to her top half and the small straps really accentuate her shoulders. Fabric of the material just hangs beautifully over her shape.

Street Style - Adding a scarf really balances out your figure.

What key accessory should

Today I visited a popular jewellery store in Manchester to ask the owner what was her must buy for winter. Her answer was simple, "You HAVE to buy collar necklaces, they are just everywhere this season". Well if that wasn't clear fashion advice I don't know what is!

How To Embellish Clothes Yourself

Do It Yourself Embellishment

Save money on this winter's key style trend by adding beading to old clothes. Just take a needle & thread, and sew away, while watching TV. It really is THAT easy to do!

I was getting bored of this plain cardigan, so I decided to customise it myself having been inspired by the high street style. I decided to sew gold beads on the shoulders as it just adds that touch of glamour to any outfit.

Dress Your Curves - This style is perfect for women with small shoulders as this detailing will balance your silhouette out. For hourglass figures this shoulder embellishment is perfect too, just make sure you cinch in your waist (the smallest part of you) too!

Perfect cardigan for covering up on a chilly night out, or to add that touch of fashion to daily office wear.

What's the greatest feeling ever?

Do you know the best feeling in the world? No not winning the lottery, silly! But finding a long lost dress in your wardrobe, that you COMPLETELY forgot about. Well this was the story of this dress, it lay unforgotten in a pile of clothes. One sunny day I decided to dig deep for an outfit and voila, the rest is history...well almost.

As you know I am not the skinniest of girls (think I was born being a size 14) and the closest time I've come to a size 8 is my shoe size! Therefore I try to wear clothes which flatter my shape, in this instance I wore a belt to cinch in my waist and a lovely black cardi to cover my arms. Going with the vintage theme of the dress I gave my hair a mini front quiff too.

First Day

Tuesday 13th November 2012

For my first blog I just wanted to wave and say "Hello".

I love fashion and thought i'd give a blog a go.

How to Dress to Impress for Less?
I love reading fashion magazines (you know the ones which are so heavy you feel your arm will drop off!) but I always find that the clothes are just way too expensive for us average gals. Therefore I want to show everyone that you don't need to spend a £fortune to update your wardrobe to the latest fashion trends, its all about being the savvy shopper.

So stay tuned, and I'll show you how to style like those celebs but not have to break the bank.
